Numerous platforms offer additional information on drought and its effects as well as on measures to mitigate drought. Key national and international examples are listed below:

 

National

 

Swiss Federal Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape Research WSL research platform

Drought.ch is a product of the Swiss National Science Foundation National Research Programme NRP61,completed in 2013. It was developed in collaboration with MeteoSwiss and the FOEN and has been run by WSL since. It provided the basis for this website. It will continue to be operated as a research platform.

International

 

The Integrated Drought Management Programme (IDMP) is a joint initiative of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the Global Water Partnership (GWP). The IDMP provides governments and other stakeholders worldwide with policy, technical and administrative guidance, scientific evidence and best practices in integrated drought management.

The European Copernicus Emergency Management Service provides updated maps and data via the mapviewer of the European Drought Observatory (EDO) and the Global Drought Observatory (GDO).  Detailed information on data, indices and research activities can be found on the EU Science Hub.

The ADO provides current data from climate models, satellite observations and ground station data as well as historical data harmonised across the entire Alpine region. The platform was created with the collaboration of numerous research institutions as part of a European Interreg project.

The GDIS is an international platform providing comprehensive information on the drought situation around the world. Its main objective is to provide a global overview of drought conditions and to promote cooperation between different institutions and countries in order to ensure the best response to events.
